Romeo: A video poem by Karina Bush

I wrote this poem during night walks around Rome, going through a breakup. As I was writing, I knew it would become a video poem and that male, marble sculptures would be the imagery. For months I couldn’t find the right sculptures, and there are plenty in Rome, but nothing looked right. Recently, an Antonio Canova exhibition ‘Eternal Beauty’ opened in the city, with over 170 pieces. Canova’s work is practically perfect, and I found the cold, beautiful, half-dead thing I was looking for.
