RICCARDO I

ENG: Through archival footage, the film explores the relationship between a man, Vittorio, and his beloved boat, Riccardo I. Set against the backdrop of profound changes affecting the Adriatic Sea and its shores in the 20th century, it captures the end of ancient seafaring traditions. As a child, Vittorio serves as a cabin boy on his father's boat; in his old age, he feels a deep urge to preserve the world of his childhood. With unwavering determination, he embarks on a mission to restore Riccardo I, the last sailing ship of its kind, dedicating himself to the project until his final breath.

ITA: Attraverso materiali d'archivio, il film racconta la storia del legame tra un uomo, Vittorio, e una barca, il Riccardo I. La loro relazione si sviluppa nel contesto dei profondi cambiamenti che hanno interessato il mare Adriatico e i suoi litorali nel Novecento, segnando la fine dell'antica civiltà della vela. Da bambino, Vittorio è mozzo sulla barca del padre; da anziano, sente il bisogno di preservare il mondo della sua infanzia. Con ostinata determinazione, decide di restaurare da solo il Riccardo I, l'ultima imbarcazione del suo tipo, dedicandosi a questa impresa fino alla morte.
